Pauline M. Bennett

Mrs. Pauline M. Bennett, 94, of Burlington died at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born July 12, 1921 in Olds, Iowa, she was the daughter of Oren and Ellen (Seabranch) Kemp. On July 24, 1941 she married Mark H. Bennett in Memphis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 6, 1999. Mrs. Bennett was a 1939 graduate of Burlington High School. She worked at IRC/TRW for many years. Mrs. Bennett was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Kings Daughters and served on the Steamboat Senior Center Board. She was skilled in upholstery and enjoyed working with stained glass, playing bridge, pinochle, bingo and participating in events at the Senior Center. She served as a docent at the Hawkeye Natives Log Cabin in Crapo Park. Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Bennett of Huntsville, Alabama; one son, Randy (Sharon) Bennett of Burlington; eight grandchildren, David Foster, Laura McBride, Michael Foster, Rick Birkenstock, Michele Jones, Lindsey Lee, Wesley Marsh and Erin Dinsdale; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Pat (Carl) Selleck of Sacramento, California and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, April 22nd, at Lunning Chapel. The memorial funeral service for Mrs. Bennett will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23rd, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Andersen officiating. Inurnment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Bethany Lutheran Church and the Steamboat Senior Center. Cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel and will be accorded following the visitation.
