Betty S. Layton 78, Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2006 after a long illness. She was born May 14, 1928 in Indianapolis to the late Harry and Ruth (Baum) Shockley. Betty was a 1946 graduate of Shortridge High School and a 1950 graduate of Indiana University where she earned a B.S. in business. She was employed by General Motors, Allison Gas Turbine for 35 years as a program administrator. Betty will be long remembered by her friends and family for her loving ways and sense of humor. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 1st at 1 p.m. in Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel where friends may visit with the family Tuesday, October 31st from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Survivors include her Life Partner, Melinda Burcham; nieces, Cindy Schwimmer, Connie Hackett, Ann Shockley and Elizabeth Vassillo; a nephew, Mark Shockley and sister in law, Jeanne Shockley.
