Raymond Dowell

Raymond R. Dowell, 89, Westfield, passed away November 17, 2006. He was born on August 21, 1917 to the late George and Lillian Fidler Dowell in Banner, IL. Raymond was a veteran of WW II, serving his country proudly in the US Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star and a commendation for his outstanding service from General P.W. Clarkson. He also was a member of the American Legion of Abingdon, IL, VFW, DAV, Abingdon Pottery Club and was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge #185 of Abingdon. He had worked for the Sta Rite Manufacturing Company retiring in 1978 then became an avid wood carver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Dowell; six brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his lovely wife of 65 years, Vivian Atwater Dowell; son, David (Janell) Dowell of Plano, TX; daughter-in-law, Cindy Dowell of Grand Berry, TX; five grand children, Lori (Chamma) Skipper of Winter Spring, FL, Brad (Cyndi) Dowell of Tipton, IN, Greg Dowell of Quitman, TX, Chad Dowell of Burleson, TX and Nicole Dowell of Dallas, TX; four great grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
