Gerard C. ?Jerry? de Kater, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away January 22, 2007. He was born February 15, 1917 in Bridgeport, CT. to the late Willem M. and Cornelia VanVliet de Kater. On August 17, 1946 Jerry married the late Harriet Weed de Kater. For 46 years Mr. de Kater was in sales with DuPont, retiring in 1982. He attended St. Luke Catholic Church, volunteered with the American Red Cross and he was active in the Cub Scouts serving as Cub Master. Mr. de Kater proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. During the war, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge, the North African desert campaign and on Omaha Beach. Jerry is survived by his children, Gerard W. de Kater of California, Stephen (Deborah) de Kater of Indianapolis and Jill (John) Miller of Carmel; and three grandchildren, Christine de Kater, Matthew and Mark Miller.
