Marjorie I. Shipley

Marjorie Irene Hilgert Shipley, 84, Carmel, entered into rest on January 22, 2007 in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. She was born in Indianapolis on July 27, 1923. She graduated from Nabb High School in Nabb, IN and lived for the next 60 years in Carmel, IN. moving to W. Lafayette in 2005 to be with her family as health failed. She was a Charter Member of the Carmel First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Shipley and her beloved daughter, Denise Hilgert Parker. She is survived by her granddaughters, Amber Parker and Crystal Parker; her son-in-law, Al Parker, all of W. Lafayette, IN.; and her best friend, Rosemary Farmer Conrad of Carmel, IN. Other survivors are her niece, Nancy Schlenker of Louisville, KY.; brother, Dennis Clapp of Louisville, KY.; and her cousin, Elbert Bradshaw of Carmel, IN. Mrs. Shipley worked for Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. for many years and then had a long career in retail selling, working for Blocks, Lazarus and Kohl?s. She made many devoted friends and was loved for her wonderful and caring ways. Marge will be missed by all who knew her.
