Patricia Brumbaugh
Patricia Ann (Patty) Carlson Brumbaugh, passed away at her home in Indianapolis on October 13, 2007. She was born to Harriet and Ralph Carlson on July 8, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents both survive her. Patty was a 1968 Graduate of Bosse High School, where she was a member of the band and orchestra, cheerleader, and active in student government. Patty was a 1972 Graduate of DePauw University, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She went on to obtain a Master?s Degree in Midwifery at the University of Mississipi. Patty was instrumental in founding the first free-standing birthing center in the state of Indiana, Nurse Mid-Wives of Indiana. Working at the center, Patty delivered over 1000 babies during her career. After she retired from midwifery, she continued to work as an RN. She was an avid bicyclist and runner, having participated in several marathons, triathlons and the Hilly Hundred ride in Bloomington. She was an avid sports fan especially loved IU basketball. A memorial service will be Saturday, November 10 in the Leppert Mortuary, Smith Carmel Chapel, starting at 6:00 PM with a visitation from 4:00 PM until time of service.
