Michael Vincent (?Uncle Mike?) Mascari of Indianapolis, IN passed from this life on April 24, 2008. He was 76 years old. Starting work in the produce business with his father at the age of 16, Mike had a strong work ethic. He owned and operated M.V. Mascari & Son Produce Company. He was associated with G.M. Ervin Zink Inc. He was a realtor of Johnson County, former owner of Michael?s Cleaners and most recently he retired from the Indianapolis Fruit Company, where he was a senior buyer. In his retirement, Mike enjoyed volunteering his time at Oasis Center of Glendale. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he earned 3rd and 4th degree. Mike was also a member of the V.F.W. #34. Mike served in the 84th Combat Unit of the U.S. Army, and he attended Cathedral High School. Born on August 24, 1931, to Michael J. and Isabell (Sansone) Mascari in Indianapolis, Mike was the youngest of six children. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Heather (Jason) Needham, Gregory (Kari) Johnson and Cory Mascari, as well as five great-grandchildren and seventeen nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gibault Home for Boys and Girls of Terre Haute, or Little Sisters of the Poor of Indianapolis. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29 at the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30 at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Chapel 9001 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis.
