Robert E. Wildman

Robert E. Wildman passed away on May 2, 2008 at the age of 87. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jean Thomas Wildman, his children Sue Rush and Bob Wildman and their spouses, Bob Rush and Jane Wildman. His four grandchildren are, Ross and Kelley Wildman and Melissa Rush Hogberg (Doug) and Stephanie Ramsamooj (Dean); and one great-grandchild, Christian Rus Ramsamooj. Bob?s brother also survives, Bill Wildman and his wife Joyce along with several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wildman served in the Army during World War II. After the war Mr. Wildman was an active business executive. He was Vice-President of the Sani-Serve Company and was instrumental in the founding and success of the Burger Chef Restaurants. He was also involved with Ponderosa and Rax Restaurant operations in St. Louis. He later continued to be active in real estate development through Roundhill Development. He was a long time member of the Indianapolis Athletic Club, member of Meridian Hills Country Club as well as Tippecanoe Lakes Country Club. years, In addition, he was a member of the founding owners of the Indiana Pacers. He was also interested in standard bred horse racing. He and his wife attended Butler University where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He was devoted to the development of Butler. He served on the Board of Trustees for over 20 years and was awarded the Mortar Award and the Butler Medal, the highest award bestowed upon alumni. He and his wife endowed a scholarship for the Butler Business School and the Butler Athletic Department. He was quite interested in Butler?s athletic program and particularly proud of the basketball team?s recent success. Bob and Jean were inducted into the Butler Athletic Hall of Fame. His caring, intelligence and good humor will be sorely missed by family and friends. Family and friends will gather on Monday May 5th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel with services at 10:00 Tuesday May 6th in Second Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member.
