Ruth M. Benten

Ruth M. van Benten, age 85 Ruth Marie Hynes was born on April 6, 123 in Indianapolis. She was the daughter of Michael and Eva James Hynes. Ruth graduated from St. Agnes Academy and Butler University. She was a home economist with Citizens Gas until she married John J. van Benten on July 26, 1947. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John J. van Benten, her youngest son Mark van Benten and her sister, Evelyn Turner. She is survived by her sons Michael, Kevin and Joe (Sarah) van Benten and Bob (Carol) Davidson. Also surviving are her daughters, Susan (Tom) Roy, Diane (John) Bradburn and Annie (Brian) Hunt. Daughter-in-law, Lee Ann van Benten (Mark?s widow) survives. Additionally, there are 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild surviving. Ruth was an active volunteer in many organizations such as the St. Vincent Guild and the St. Augustine?s Guild. She was a long time member of St. Luke Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9 at St. Luke Catholic Church. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the church.
