Charles Carr Compton, 88, of Indianapolis died on May 17, 2008. He was born in Philadelphia on May 11, 1920 to George W. and Caroline (Carr) Compton. Charles grew up in Rutherford, NJ. He graduated from Ithaca College where he played 5 years of college football. Mr. Compton was an executive with International Operations of CUNA Mutual Insurance Society, life insurance affiliate of the world-wide credit union movement, headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin. He worked in 59 countries. While serving with the Marine Corps, he received a battlefield commission and held the rank of captain. He was active in Optimists International, with two terms as Lt. Governor of his region, and President of his local club. He was on the Board of Advisors for AISEC, an international association of students in economics and business management. He was a member of the faculty of the CUNA school for credit union personnel at the University of Wisconsin and served on the Board of SCORE, Service Corps of Retired Executives for the Small Business Administration.
