Melvin E. Gorby, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away May 23, 2008. He was born December 20, 1918 in Sullivan, IN to the late Otto and Grace (Morgan) Gorby. Melvin served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a tech sergeant. He was a graduate of Indiana Central Business College; he then worked at the Allison Division of General Motors as an accountant for 41 years, retiring in 1981. Melvin was a longtime member and former Elder of the Northminster Presbyterian Church. On June 7, 1941 he married his loving wife, Willetta (Campbell) Gorby and she survives. Other survivors include his three children, Sue Langston, Mike Gorby (Janet) and Russ Gorby (Karen); seven grandchildren, Jeff and Jim Langston, Andy Gorby, Kelly Messer, Leslie, Amber and Rebecca Gorby and seven great grandchildren. His sister, Mildred Weddle preceded him in death. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Northminster Presbyterian Church.
