JoAnne Nettie Johnson Fields, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in Indianapolis. She was born May 22, 1930 in Springfield, NJ to the late John Johnson and Irene Priester Johnson. She did her undergraduate work at Bethel College and Indiana University after which she taught elementary school in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware and worked with college students with Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship. She received her Masters in Personnel and Counseling at Indiana University, taught and was Assistant Dean of Women at Albion College. She was a counselor for Women at the University of Connecticut. She married Don Arlen Fields in Stores, Connecticut in December of 1965 and then moved back to Indiana where she taught at Springmill Elementary until having her first daughter, Becky and later, Debi. She continued to work with Inter Varsity mentoring college women and teaching and training in Bible Study. She was also involved in teaching adult Sunday school at her church as well as leading Women?s Bible study groups. lds Kalthoff, Sarah Ellen Fields Kalthoff, Kathryn Grace Fields Kalthoff, Mary Joanne Alexander and Fields Joseph Alexander. JoAnne was an avid swimmer. She was a member of the Riviera Club and in her later years joined a ladies water aerobics group with whom she enjoyed great camaraderie. JoAnne?s family wishes to extend their heartfelt and sincere gratitude for the outpouring of support during this difficult time. Family and friends will gather Friday, June 13, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel, Indianapolis. Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 14 starting at 11:00 at Faith Missionary Church, 9125 North College Avenue, Indianapolis, with a visitation one hour prior.
