Emily K. Rafferty

Emily Kessler Rafferty, wife of Harold E. Rafferty, passed away early Friday after a short battle with cancer. She was 82 years of age. Married on February 15, 1947, she was a loving and devoted wife of more than 61 years, and her marriage was blessed with two wonderful children ? Alan Douglas (Beverly), of Portland, Maine, and Janet Susan (Don) Rawson. She was the grandmother of Sarah and Emily Rafferty, and Kyle and Catherine Rawson and Carey (Jim) Davis. Born March 9, 1926, in Campbellsville, Kentucky, she had two brothers ? Walter Wayne Kessler, (deceased), and James Lynwood Kessler. Her father, Sylvester, and mother, Lena Dixie Kessler, both preceded her in death. Much of what sustained her through all those years was her Faith. A lifetime Baptist, she was at the time of her death a member of the First Baptist Church of Indianapolis. She also remained faithful to the church she grew up in, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Campbellsville. She served for a time on the board of the Hamilton County Cancer Society, including one term as chair. Services for Emily will be Monday at First Baptist Church of Indianapolis, 8600 N.
