Mary Ellen was at IU Medical Center from 1969 to 1972 where she achieved the level of Unit Director on the Krannert floor at University Hospital . Mary Ellen was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the nursing national honorary. Mary Ellen?s greatest joy was joining with her husband Jack to entertain friends and family at her home which often included boating on Morse reservoir, the Boyd home since 2004. She loved traveling to their second home in Siesta Key Florida and many other places. Mary Ellen is predeceased by her brother John Barton, Jr. and Dr. Jack Brew Hardigg, husband. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Jack Carr Boyd and three children Dr. J. B. Boyd of Indianapolis (husband of Dr. Kathleen ?Kiki?) and their children, Mary Ellen?s grandchildren, Patrick and Sam, Christopher Boyd of Boulder Colorado, Katherine ?Katie? Boyd of Indianapolis, sister, Peggy Barton Weaver (wife of Joe) of Dallas, Texas, Aunt of, Joseph Weaver, III, William (husband of Kathryn)and grand nephews Liam and George, Michael Weaver, John Barton Stevens and Michelle Marie Stevens. Aunt Veronica Barton of Indianapolis and cousin, Maureen McCaughna (wife of Jim) of Indianapolis also survives. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 12th at 10:00 am in Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, 1400 North Meridian Street , with family and friends gathering on Friday July 11th in Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel , 740 East 86th Street .
