Dale E. Taylor, 62, of Indianapolis, died Thursday, July 17, 2008. Born on May 24, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio, he moved to northern Indiana as a young child when his father accepted a teaching position at Bethel College, Mishawaka. Dale graduated from Penn High School there. He then graduated from Bethel College in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in music education; he was student government president at Bethel College and selected for Who?s Who in American Colleges and Universities. Dale taught choral music in the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation for 9 years. He graduated from Indiana University in 1973 with a Master of Science in secondary education; he is a Life Time Member of the Indiana University Alumni Association. He then became an adjunct professor in education at Bethel College until he moved to Indianapolis in 1982. Dale was an elementary school teacher at St. Luke Catholic School for 11 years; he was a co-recipient of an outstanding teacher award in 1994. He has continued to substitute in the Catholic Archdiocese as well as in Hamilton-Southeastern, Carmel Clay, and Lawrence Township Schools. Dale married Carol on July 17, 1982; she survives. ing are his father, Stanley Taylor (North Carolina), sister, Marilyn (Vance) Yoder (North Carolina), and aunt, Miriam Long (Greenwood, IN). Dale has 6 brother-in-laws, 6 sister-in-laws, and 16 nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy and uncle, Robert. Dale enjoyed working with young people; he really cared about his students inside and outside the classroom. He liked playing music (trombone and guitar), singing music (Bethel College Choir and First Baptist Choir), and listening to music live in concert or recorded. He received great comfort from reading about Christian faith. Visitation is from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21 at the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22 in First Baptist Church at 86th and College of which Dale was a member. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
