Richard Raymond ?Rich? Pfeifer lost his courageous battle with cancer on November 20, 2008. He is survived by Helen, his wife of 49 years; two children, Richard Joseph Pfeifer of Lansing, Michigan and Kristen Ellen (Pfeifer) Hayes (Brett Hayes) of Cicero, Ind.; two grandchildren, Aaron William Booth and Kathleen Elizabeth ?Kate? Hayes and a sister, Lorraine (Pfeifer) McKay (Robert McKay) of Eastford, CT. Born August 24, 1930 in New Haven, CT to Arthur and O?Tillie (Frank) Pfeifer, Rich was preceded in death by both of his parents, three brothers and one sister. He and his family have lived in the Indianapolis area since 1981. He was a member of the Connecticut National Guard and served with the Army of Occupation in Germany. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army on October 21, 1952 and was a lifelong member of the American Legion. Rich was a graduate of Southern Connecticut College, an avid football fan, he had a love for gardening, children, animals and life in general.
