Curly Egler

Noel C. ?Curly? Egler, age 79, of Noblesville (formerly of Carmel) died on December 22, 2008. Curly was born on March 20, 1929 in Tipton County, Indiana, to Leo Raymond and Orpha Blanche (DeVaney) Egler. Curly was predeceased by his brothers Gene and Lee, as well as a sister Mary Lou who died in childhood. Curly graduated from Sheridan High School in 1947 and later attended Indianapolis Electronics School. He joined the Army in 1949, traveled to Germany to serve for a brief time, and later was recalled for the Korean Conflict. Though the Army never sent him to Korea, he traveled to both Japan and Korea during his 23-year career at RCA Consumer Electronics. On June 28, 1959, Curly married Patricia Ann Arthur, who survives him along with 3 children: Lisa Sorensen of Monroe, New York; Jamison Egler of Whiteland, Indiana; and Teresa Tiencken of Ogdensburg, New Jersey. Curly was the beloved grandfather of Dane Sorensen, Madeline Sorenson, and Jack Tiencken and often visited them with Pat in New York and New Jersey. Family and friends will gather on Friday, January 2, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. in the Carmel Christian Church, of which he has been a member for decades.
