Thomas Albert Foley
Thomas Albert Foley, II age 81 if Indianapolis passed away peacefully at his home on January 1, 2009. He was born August 16, 1927 in Paris, Illinois to Philip Oglesby Foley and Mildred Hamilton Foley. He was a 1945 graduate of Paris High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Purdue University in 1951. He was one of six people chosen for a post-graduate internship with the U.S. Forest Service. He also served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1945 to 1946. Tom spent 28 years at the T.A. Foley Lumber Company in Paris, Illinois. He worked for Pingleton Lumber Company in Greencastle, Indiana before moving to Indianapolis where he worked for John Rodarmel Company and Woodcrafters Supply. He was a past president of the Indiana Hardwood Lumberman?s Association and a member of Alpha Zeta fraternity. An ordained Deacon and Elder in the Presbyterian Church he served his churches faithfully when called. An avid woodworker, he enjoyed crafting many items and viewing the work of others at various art fairs and galleries. He was an enthusiastic reader and particularly enjoyed poetry. enjoyed listening to music, especially jazz and classical, and often said ? I gave my music-voice to my children.? Mr. Foley was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Downing Foley in 1995. He is survived by his brother Richard Foley and his wife Joanne Foley of Champaign, Illinois, his sister Ann (Fred) Hamman of Clarendon Hills, Illinois; daughters, Camille Foley of Paris, Illinois, Jessica Yaron of Indianapolis, Amy (Jeffery) Bayliff also of Indianapolis; sons, Daniel Foley of Indianapolis, and Dr. John (Dr. Diana) Foley of Martinsburg, West Virginia; grandchildren, Charles (Maggie) Hopper of Asheville North Carolina, and John Hopper, Jr. of Paris, Illinois, Christina Yaron(Bryan) Grimes of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Rosemary and Philip Bayliff both of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Sophia Hopper of Asheville, North Carolina.
