Florence L. ?Flo? Hardy was entrusted to God?s eternal care on February 5, 2009. Flo was born on March 14, 1923 to Lee and Caroline (Meyers) Emmelman. She graduated from Shortridge High School, and attended William Woods College and Butler University. On May 8, 1945 she married William O. Hardy and they shared life not only as husband and wife, but as best friends, for over 63 years. She and Bill were owners of Em-Roe Sporting Goods Company until retirement. She has been reunited in heaven with her parents, her brother Dick, a grandson Jeffrey Hardy and great grandson Samuel Wright. She is survived by her beloved husband Bill; sons Steve (Janet) and Duke (Tammy) Hardy; grandchildren, Jeni (Chad) Wright, and Ben, Tom and Joe Hardy; and great grandchildren, Emma and Madeline Wright. Flo had boundless energy in service to others. She was an active leader in her children?s school, scouting and sport activities; a long time volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Fletcher Place and Brightwood Community Centers and many ministries at St. Luke?s United Methodist Church. to homeless veterans. Flo treasured beyond description her family and many, many close friends and loved every opportunity to laugh with them. She reveled in the happiness of everyone she loved and was first in line to provide support and comfort in times of need. She did this all without ever thinking she was doing anything extraordinary, it was simply natural to her being. Flo led a rich and happy life and was a living example of selfless love and its power to enrich the lives of so many others. Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, February 10 from 9 to 11 a.m., at St. Luke?s United Methodist Church with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. You are invited to visit www.leppertmortuary.com where may leave a personal message, sign the guestbook or make a memorial contribution to St. Luke?s United Methodist Church and which will be used by the church for the benefit of veterans in need.
