Kathryn "Kay" Finneran

Kathryn G. Finneran passed away February 8, 2009 after a long journey with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born February 21, 1919 to the late Peter V. and Delight M. Gartland. She is survived by her children, Joseph C., Jr. (Martha), Indianapolis, Stephen A. (Maureen), Cicero, IN, Thomas W. (Maureen), Brick, NJ, Mary E., Portales, NM, John L., Indianapolis; sister, Elizabeth G. Grimes, Terre Haute, IN; brother-in-law, John L. Finneran, North Andover, MA; sister-in-law, Pat Finneran, Andover, MA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Joseph C. Finneran; sister, Maryellen G. Martin; brothers-in-law, William Finneran, Robert Finneran, William Grimes, and Marvin M. Martin. A graduate of Ladywood, Kay was active in numerous civic organizations. She served on the boards of Historic Landmarks Foundation and St. Vincent Hospice. Mrs. Finneran was also past president of Christamore Aid Society, member of the Junior League of Indianapolis, Players, English Speaking Union, Visiting Nurse Association, Day Nursery, and St. Vincent de Paul Society. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church with calling one hour before services. Interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangments are entrusted to Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Indiana, St. Vincent de Paul Society, or Little Sisters of the Poor.
