Ellen Rogers Kahlo Of Indianapolis, died April 27, 2009. She was born in Logansport, IN on November 23, 1913, the daughter of Dr. Clarke Rogers and Nina Schaefer Rogers. She graduated from Tudor Hall School and attended DePauw University. Mrs. Kahlo was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen and by her husband, E. Havens Kahlo. Her love of travel, history, art and reading and her avid curiosity about life and learning led to many adventures and long stories. She enjoyed a great conversation and a hearty laugh. For many years she served a number of civic and cultural organizations. She was a board member of the Marion County Mental Health Association, Indiana State Museum Society, Junior League of Indianapolis, and the Juvenile Court Bi-Partisan Committee. During the Centennial years she participated in the State Museum's financing and planning of the commemorative portrayal of George Rogers Clark's heroic capture of the Northwest Territory during the American Revolution. She was a member of Woodstock Club, the Indianapolis Athletic Club, the Indianapolis Woman's Club, and Second Presbyterian Church. She is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Cabot, Weston MA, Eleanor Callahan, Middleburg, VA; son, Clarke R. Kahlo, Indianapolis; 3 granddaughters, and 6 great- grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Indianapolis; Americares of New Canaan Ct; or Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana.
