Virginia M. Juergensen, 79, passed away May 19, 2009 at Yellow Rose Hospice in Indianapolis. Virginia was born November 13, 1929 in Michigan City, IN to Leonard and Minnie (Walter) Maschke. She was baptized into the Kingdom of God on December 8, 1929 and confirmed in her faith on Palm Sunday, April 18th, 1943 by Pastor Emil Kemena.. On April 7, 1951 she was married to William R. Juergensen who preceded her in death July 28, 1988. They were blessed with 37 years of marriage and three children: Timothy (Dorothy) Juergensen, Carmel Cynthia(Jim) Schleusner, Zionsville, and Polly Juergensen, Baton Rouge, LA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Virginia worked as a legal secretary for Attorneys Thomas C. Mullen and Marcellus B. Meyer for a total of 40 years. She was best known for being an accomplished left-handed violinist. She was a charter member of the Michigan City Symphony and a long time member and past-president of Monday Musicale Club in Michigan City. Paul Lutheran Church in Michigan City and current member of Carmel Lutheran Church. She faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher for 50 years. She was a member of St. Paul Altar Guild, Communion Assistant to the Homebound and member of Lois Circle. Most recently, she played with the Carmel Lutheran Chamber Orchestra and served on the prayer team. Virginia was greatly loved and cherished by all who came to know her since moving to the Indianapolis area 11 years ago. Family and friends will gather for the visitation Thursday, May 21 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Carmel Lutheran Church. The Funeral Service will be Friday, May 22 at Carmel Lutheran Church starting at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Leppert Mortuary, Smith Carmel Chapel. There will be an additional funeral service in Michigan City, Indiana at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
