Mark E. Fisher

Mark E. Fisher, 84, of Carmel, passed away September 3, 2009. He was born on January 24, 1925 in Indianapolis to the late Russell and Esther Morris Fisher. During the 43 years working at Allison Division of General Motors, Mark received numerous awards and retired in 1990. Also during those years, he was responsible for 33 patents for automotive transmissions. Mark was a proud veteran of the US Navy, having served on the USS Pickaway. He was a member of the Carmel Clay Kiwanis and the Broad Ripple Sertoma. He served as president of the Society of Automotive Engineers, was in Scouting and volunteered for more than 1000 hours at Carmel St. Vincent Hospital. Mark loved Tour De Carmel Bicycling and because of his love for bicycling, he rode 62 miles with the Jim Bum Bicycling Group. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Margie Christina Luna and brother, Tom Fisher. Survivors include his loving wife Margie J. Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 from 1-5 p.m. in the Carmel United Methodist Church where the funeral service will begin at 5:30 p.m. Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. in the Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be directed to the Carmel United Methodist Church, of which he was a member, 621 S. Rangeline Road, Carmel, IN 46032.
