Halloween costumes for her children (using no pattern) which are now being worn by her great-grandchildren. Mary Margaret was interested in current affairs. She was a dedicated CNN watcher and was a very early supporter of President Obama?s candidacy. She campaigned for him to her fellow residents at the assisted living facility where she lived, propelling herself around the dining room in her wheelchair as she passed out campaign literature. This was the first time she had ever campaigned for a candidate. Mary Margaret loved the English language and was excellent at grammar, which led her to volunteer with high school students who needed tutoring. She was nearly unbeatable at Scrabble, Boggle, and other word games. For the past six years, Mary Margaret resided at the Hearth of Windermere, where she made many friends among both residents and staff. She loved bingo, was a spelling bee champion at the Hearth, and had recently taken up bridge. She served on their hospitality and recreation committees. Most of all, Mary Margaret loved her family and her Catholic faith. She was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church. After her husband?s death she attended St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at the Hearth of Windermere, the nursing staff at Community North Hospital, and Home Helpers. Visitation will be Monday, September 7, 2009 starting at 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel, Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society, or Little Sisters of the Poor/St. Augustine?s Home for the Aged.
