William R. Mundy
William Robert ?Bill? Mundy, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away September 7, 2009. He was born July 13, 1919 in Edwardsport, Indiana to the late William D. and Golda Ann (Stout) Mundy. Bill served our country during World War II in the Army ? Infantry Division, serving in England, France and Germany; he was discharged in 1946 as a 1st Lieutenant. On October 10, 1942 he married Elizabeth ?Betty? Pahmeier. Bill came from a family of 11 children, six sisters and four brothers. After graduating from high school, he moved to Indianapolis, attended Purdue University where he studied metallurgical engineering. His career in the steel industry started in 1946, where he worked primarily in sales. Bill was the sales manager for W.J. Holliday, J&L Steel and Youngstown Sheet & Tube, President of Great Western Steel and from 1985 until 1990 he was with Specialty Manufacturers of Indianapolis. He enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, golf, wood working and a lifetime of helping others. Along with his parents, Bill is also preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers. Family and friends will gather from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11 at First Baptist Church of Indianapolis followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at the church.
