Fred Raymond Hurt, 87, passed away at home on Friday, September 30th. Born in Hazard, Kentucky to Cecil and Stella (Hurst) Hurt he went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee in 1949 remaining a loyal Vols fan to the end. A fighter pilot during WW II in the Pacific Theatre he was also called back during the Korean War retiring from the service with the rank of Major. Prominent in Indianapolis business circles Fred operated Manpower Temporary Services for over 40 years. Survived by his wife, Jane and children, Lucy Rebecca Hurt, Indianapolis, Fred Raymond Hurt Jr. (Tammy) of Naples, Florida, Stephen Hurt (Cathy) of Indianapolis, David Hurt (Kelley) of Fulton, Missouri, Elizabeth Liermann (Michael) of Suwanee, Georgia, Jeffrey Pell (Jeaninne) of Scottsdale, AZ and Kathryn Frankenfield (Robert) of Cary, North Carolina. Sisters, Nelle Boyd of Pasadena, California and Nannie Combs of Hammond, Louisanna. Twelve wonderful grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren were the joy of his life. Visitation will be Saturday, October 3, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Chapel, 9001 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis. A Private family service will follow. In lieu of ...[more]
