Dorothy Jane Sawyer

Dorothy Schlotzhauer Roush Sawyer, 86, of North Manchester, IN and Naples, FL and most recently a resident of Sunrise of Carmel, passed away October 31, 2009. She was born on April 17, 1923 to the late Milton and Hilda (Winteregg) Schlotzhauer in Bluffton, Indiana. Dorothy graduated from Bluffton High School and attended Ball State University, where she received her Associates Degree and was a member of Gamma Gamma sorority. She resided in Muncie while working for Ball State University, ultimately retiring in 1983 after ten years of service. Dorothy was a faithful member of High Street Methodist Church in Muncie, where she served as an office volunteer for several years. Dorothy was married to the late Bernard Roush, and she is survived by their three daughters, Cynthia Swaim, Carmel; Nancy (Dale) Geiselman, Zionsville; and Ellen (Troy) Rector, Athens, GA. In 1993 Dorothy married Dr. Roger Sawyer of North Manchester, IN and Naples, FL, who survives her, along with her stepson, Dr. Douglas (Peggy) Sawyer, Warsaw, IN. Dorothy was preceded in death by her sisters, Sarabelle Heller and Ann Swisher, both of Bluffton, IN.
