Yale Rice, Jr. departed for his final fishing adventure on Sunday, January 24, 2010. He was born in Indianapolis on October 28, 1927 and spent his childhood years in Indianapolis and Lynnville, TN. He was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School and continued his education at Indiana University and Butler University earning two B.S. degrees. He served four years in the U.S. Navy and upon his return, he began his 38 year career at Eli Lilly and Company where he achieved head of quality control and traveled throughout the world; before retiring, remained, by request of Lilly, five more years working in their legal department. Yale was an avid fisherman, his fishing took him all over the U.S. and several other countries. He was a member of Traders Point Hunt, serving as president for some years. Yale enjoyed fox hunting with the love of his life, Mimi. Yale is survived by his three children, Yale Rice III (LeaRae), Kimberly Harrison (Scott) and Christine Portell; seven grandchildren, Hilary Rice, Amanda Rice, Jerrod Harrison, Whitney Harrison, Kami Beasley (Ben), Kyle Portell and Justin Portell; two step grandchildren, Niki Herron and Michael VanMeter and two great grandchildr...[more]
