George Robert Sippel, 84 of Indianapolis, IN passed away February 22, 2010. He was born on January 15, 1926 to the late George K. and Blanche (Hurt) Sippel. George was a Navy veteran of WWII serving as an Ensign. He graduated in the class of 1943 from Cathedral High School and in the class of 1945 from University of Notre Dame. He then attended Harvard University. George worked fifty years as a metallurgist with Detroit Diesel Allison General Motors retiring in 1996. He was a member of ASM (American Society of Metallurgist) and the American Legion Robert E. Kennington Post. George was married for 62 years to Margaret ?Pat? (McFarland) Sippel who survives. Additional survivor is his daughter Kristine (Steve) Stelzner. He was preceded in death by his two sons Gregory and Scott Sippel. His surviving siblings are: Dolores (Joe) Roemmer, Barbara (Jake) Kiefer, Susan (John) McKittrick and Richard (Jeannine) Sippel. His grandson Daniel McNelis also survives and his former daughter in law Marie McNelis.
