James Tellus

James Michael Tellus, 47, of Carmel, died on March 9, 2010. He was born to the late Joseph Peter and Agnes Elizabeth Tellus on August 3, 1962, in New York City. James is a graduate of Wichita State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism/Radio, TV and Film. Jim enjoyed a long career in television news. He was president and general manager of WTHR Channel 13 in Indianapolis. Before coming to Indianapolis he was a television news director at KOMO-TV in Seattle, WVEC-TV in Norfolk, Va., and KSNW-TV in Wichita, Kan. Jim was a community leader serving on several boards and was a generous contributor to multiple non-profit organizations. He is survived by wife, Kathy Tellus; daughters Lisa, Angela and Katie; son James; brothers, Joseph and William Tellus; five brothers-in-law; 5 sisters-in-law; and 14 nieces and nephews. Friends and family will gather on Friday, March 12, 2010, from 3 to 9 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
