Jessie Ralph Hager, Passed away April 9, 2010. He was born October 9, 1924 to Henry & Lola (Pruett) Hager in Tip Top, VA. He married Clara Stevens in 1943. Jessie worked in coal mines and proudly served in the Navy aboard Liberty ships during WWII. He moved to Carmel in 1954 and worked for Hughey Construction/Carmel Concrete for 44 years where he was "Driver of the Year" for the first 6 years that they had the program. He loved driving the Carmel Concrete truck in the 4th of July parade. He retired in 1996. Jess was loved and respected by those who knew him and considered to be an integral part of Carmel through the years. Survived by his beloved wife, Clara; daughter Diane Johnson (Oceanside, CA); daughter Sandy Lykins and son-in-law Jim (Gilbert, AZ); granddaughter Tonja Throgmorton and husband Wayne (Carmel); grandson Brett Wolfe and wife Anne (Westfield); grandson Jason Lykins and wife Brandi (Michigan); granddaughter Jessica Austin and husband Paul (Arizona); great-grandchildren Cameron Williams, Hanna and Halle Throgmorton, Joe and Drew Wolfe, Meagan and Alex Kravat, and McKenna Austin; sister Opal Cooper. nd girls were okay then Jess was happy. He will be remembered by his family for his kind and giving heart, his unconditional support, his wonderful sense of humor and his catch phrases that we will all use forever. Friends and family will gather on Saturday, April 24, 2010 for a memorial service at 3:00pm with visitation prior from 1:00pm to 3:00pm in the Leppert Mortuary, Smith Carmel Chapel.
