Robert H. Weedon, 86, Indianapolis, formerly of Naples, Fla., died May 8, 2010. He was born on Sept. 14, 1923, in Mooresville, Ind. Mr. Weedon was employed by Eli Lilly and Company for 30 years. He supervised the construction of two of the first three Lilly Puerto Rico plants and retired in 1980 as the director of the Lilly Indianapolis capsule plant. He was the chairman of the Carmel Police Commission for two years. He also served on the boards of St. John?s School in San Juan, Puerto Rico and the American Horse Shows Association in New York. He was an avid golfer, having been a member of the Country Club of Indianapolis, Hillcrest Country Club as well as Bear?s Paw Country Club of Naples. He supported the Indianapolis fire department as a volunteer for Fire Buffs and was involved for several years with the Indiana Transportation Museum. Mr. Weedon was also a member of the Masons, the Scottish Rite and the Murat Shrine. He was a member of the Indiana State Fair Board from 1957 to 1965 and was instrumental in arranging for the Beatles to appear at the 1964 State Fair. service, he attended Butler University from which he graduated in 1950 and earned his Master of Business Administration in 1956. He was the widower of JoAnn Bowen who died in 1999. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jane Martz, with whom he celebrated a tenth anniversary in February; three children, Dr. G. Robert Weedon, Richard B. (Jackie) Weedon, and Virginia (Dennis) Grant and one granddaughter, Erin Weedon. An infant son, Robert George, preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Betty & Robert H. Weedon Scholarship Endowment at Butler University to help needy students earn their MBA. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 in the Milner Chapel at Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 North Meridian Street, where Mr. Weedon was a long time member, with calling an hour before services. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery. A memorial service is planned at a future date at Hoosier Village where Mr. Weedon had resided with his beloved wife Betty.
