Barbara Nourse Phillips went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 8, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Katherine Nourse. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother devoted to her family and friends. A lifelong member of Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, Barbara served as an Elder and most recently on the Worship Committee. For many years she was in charge of holiday decorating and arranging for fresh flowers for Sunday services. A 1951 graduate of Shortridge High School, Barbara enjoyed helping plan class reunions, maintaining files for all of her classmates. Known as an excellent cook, she was nicknamed ?Betty Crocker? by some of her close friends. For several years, Barbara worked at the JR MacMeyer gift shop in Glendale and then as an assistant travel agent for Ross & Babcock. Barbara attended Miami and Indiana Universities and was a Life Member of the Indiana University Alumni Association. A great I.U. fan, she enjoyed preparing tailgate luncheons at football games for close friends and guests. She was a member of Chi Omega and the Junior League of Indianapolis. member of the 18 hole group at Highland Country Club and participated many years in Olga events around the State and in Florida. A devoted gardener, one of her favorite groups was the Trailing Arbutus Garden Club, where she was treasurer for many years. She planned and organized trips to garden shows around the country. Barbara also enjoyed attending the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Coffee series with former high school friends and Pops concerts with her husband. Her compassion and kindness to others will be missed by all. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Wm. L. (Andy) Phillips, daughters Katherine Waddell (Scott) and Nancy McLane (Bill), grandchildren Thomas, James, and Niki Waddell, and Katherine and Sarah Kerchner. Calling to be at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel, Monday, July 12, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Services will be held at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, 418 E. 34th Street on Tuesday, July 13th at 1:00 PM.
