Virginia Niemeyer

Virginia E. Niemeyer, age 82, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010. Born June 30, 1928, she was the daughter of Carl and Florence (Heuser) Emrich. Mrs. Niemeyer was a secretary at Brebeuf Jesuit High School for several years. In addition, she worked at Clowes Hall and the University of South Carolina. She attended Hanover College for two years, graduated from Indiana University in 1950 with her Bachelors in Science Degree in Business, and was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She was a member of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Quilters, Library Committee, Bible Study and Lunch Bunch. In 1958 she moved to Carmel. She was the great granddaughter of one of the founders of Emrichville on the Indianapolis old west-side. Survivors include her daughters, Karen Bitner (Joe) and Debbie Nelson (Bill); her brother, Marvin Emrich (Rita); and her three grandchildren: Kaleigh Nelson, Corey Nelson and Elizabeth Bitner. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, with burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
