Karen Jo Darwish

Karen Hunsucker Darwish passed away July 19th, 2010 at her home following her long and courageous battle with several chronic diseases. Karen was born in Bloomington, IN on September 22, 1958. She graduated from Seymour High School in 1976. Later, she attended Indiana University and received a Bachelor?s Degree in Medical Social Work and a Masters Degree in Public Health. She worked as a health professional at various jobs including Area 10, EDS, The State Board of Health, IU Medical Group, and St. Vincent?s Hospital. Karen had an exuberant personality and a will for life like no other. Although she was disabled for the remaining years of her life, she always had a smile on her face and she never met a person without deeply touching their hearts. Her positive spirit throughout all of her hardships not only touched people, but inspired the lives of many for years and years to come. Her greatest joy in life was raising, loving, and supporting her beautiful daughter. She was preceded in death by her, Grandmother Yolande Hair, Father Sam Hunsucker, Aunt Roberta Surenkamp, Brother-in law Michael Coulter, Niece Stephanie Ellett Hall, Twin brother Kevin Hunsucker, and greatly beloved daughter Alexandra Darwish, and Husband Mustafa Darwish. Karen will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A memorial service and celebration of Karen?s life will be held on August 1st, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School Chapel located at 2801 West 86th St. Indianapolis, IN.
