Jerry Willis, 67, of Indianapolis departed this life and joined God?s choir of angels on August 12, 2010. He was born on November 10, 1942 in Shelbyville, Indiana, the son of Maynard and Thelma (Perry) Willis, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Triton Central High School in 1961 and attended Indiana Business College. Jerry was a patriotic man, serving in the Indiana National Guard from 1966 to 1972 in the 738th Aviation Maintenance Battalion. He worked in retail for almost two decades, first with J.C. Penney and then with Ayr-Way Stores. Starting in 1978, he became a manufacturer?s representative. In 1990, he became a real estate agent, and was most recently associated with Coldwell Banker Kaiser in Carmel. Jerry was an active member of St. Luke?s United Methodist Church. A music lover, Jerry loved singing in the Chancel Choir and playing his trumpet in the orchestra. Jerry belonged to the Carmel Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, and he was a charter member and past president of the Murat Mobil Nobles. . Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary Fran (Dick) Willis; daughter, Lezlie Willis, and her husband, Todd Welty; and three grandsons, Drew, Reid, and Gabriel Welty. He left behind a legion of other family members and friends. He will be sorely missed. A celebration of Jerry?s life will take place at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2010 at St. Luke?s United Methodist Church, 100 W. 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46260.
