Charles Howard Eckel

Charles Howard Eckel, 92, formerly of Indianapolis, a recent resident of Anderson, Indiana, passed away November 21, 2010. He was born August 10, 1918 in Carthage, Tennessee to the late Albert and Callie Eckel. He was a graduate of Elgin Watch College. Charles was a WWII Technical Sergeant Army veteran. He spent over 50 years working for L.S. Ayres, J.C. Sipe, and Kirles Jewelers as a Certified Master Watch Maker, Horologist, and Gemologist. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Alice (Schmidt) Eckel; daughters, Lynn (Michael) Winslow of Fairfax, CA, Nancy Arkins of Highlands Range, CO, and Barbara (Brian) Whittaker of Anderson, IN; 7 grandchildren, Shane, Conor, Karson Winslow; Callie and Meagan Need; Tyler and Ian Whittaker; 1 great granddaughter, Samantha Winslow, nephew, Thomas H. Womack (Novato, CA); brother-in-law, Leon Hunter, Cottontown, TN. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jesse Hunter and one brother, Bill Eckel. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 23, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel. The Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 24 starting at 10:00 a.m. at the mortuary.
