Robert R. Cook, age 82 of Indianapolis, IN passed away January 4, 2011. He was the son of the late Andrew Clinton and Gladys Lucille (Marshall) Cook. He was a graduate of Indiana University with the class of 1952. He retired after 37 years from Allison Division of General Motors as a technical instructor and manager of Allison Turbine School. Bob was a veteran of the US Navy. Joanne E. (Meyer) Cook, his wife of 54 years, predeceased him. As an only child, he wanted a large family; he was the father of Jody (Robert) Benjamin, Judy (Bill) Downey, John (Patty) Cook, James (Laura) Cook, Joseph (Laura) Cook and David (Lynn) Cook. He took care of all of us, and we will miss him greatly.
On June 8, 1952, he married Joanne, his childhood sweetheart, in Geneva. He was known for his popcorn, woodworking, love of IU basketball, card playing, storytelling, and his deep love of his family. He enjoyed the company of his 16 grandchildren, his two ?adopted? sons Todd and Chris and a wide circle of friends.
The Cooks were charter members of St. Luke?s United Methodist Church (100 W. 86th St.) where the visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 noon on Saturday, January 8th. The funera...[more]
