John Gehrt

John Michael Gehrt passed away unexpectedly on September 6, 2011, while biking with his wife in Versailles, France. He was 68. John enjoyed his sports, his daily routines of exercise and camaraderie with his longtime friends, his time spent with his family, and the love of his longtime friend and wife, Robin McFall Gehrt. He will be missed. John was born to Gladys and Rollin (Jack) Gehrt on June 1, 1943, and was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis. He attended Public Elementary School 84 and Park School (now Park Tudor), and was a member of The Athletic Club, The Riviera Club, Five Seasons Sports Club, and a former member of Highland Country Club. John is survived by his wife Robin, son John II, daughter Joan Marie Rangel; their mother Ginger Kern; his grandchildren William Heritage, Lauren Wyatt and Matthew Wyatt; his aunt and uncle Jane and Earl Gibson; his cousin Carolyn Maxwell; his mother-in-law Jeanne Robinson McFall; and his sisters-in-law Marjorie McCreary (John) and Anne Cremer (Tripp), and brother-in-law Frederick T. He also loved his time spent on the island of St. Croix, where his family resided for a number of years. In honor of John's zest for life, a celebration will be held at the Five Season Sports Club, 1300 East 96th Street, on Thursday, September 15, from 4 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Indianapolis and Brooke's Place.
