Joan W. Freihofer

Joan Warrender Freihofer passed away peacefully on March 6, 2012 at the age of 80. She was born May 1, 1931 to Marcus R. and Helen (Law) Warrender in Indianapolis, Indiana. Joanie graduated from Shortridge High School in 1949 and then attended and graduated from Briarcliff Junior College in Briarcliff Manor, New York. She embraced her role as a full-time mother and truly dedicated herself to her family while in Indianapolis and during summers at Lake Wawasee. Joanie was a member of the Junior League of Indianapolis, Methodist Hospital Task Core, WINS, ?Why Me?? and she had a rich history of volunteer work at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School and St. Vincent and Winona Memorial hospitals. She will be remembered as a faithful, caring, gentle spirit who was a sympathetic and loyal friend. Love of family and an appreciation of simple blessings marked her life. Her legacy is one of selflessness, respect and unconditional love. Joanie is survived by her children W. Lindsay Freihofer of Atlanta, GA, Sally Reel (Billy) of Carmel, Marcus W. Warrender, Jr. Joanie, her children and grandchildren feel blessed to have shared and enjoyed a special relationship with Bill Appel as a part of our family over the past four years. Family and friends will gather at St. Luke?s United Methodist Church, 100 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, on Thursday, March 8th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A memorial service will also be held at St. Luke?s United Methodist Church on Friday, March 9th at noon. A ?Celebration of Life Gathering? will be held at Meridian Hill Country Club, 7099 N.
