Robert Joseph Matthews, 67, of Indianapolis, died on June 9, 2012. With the support of his family, his many friends, and his faith, Bob defied the odds to survive cancer for over two years. He never lost his positive attitude, generosity or sense of humor. He was born to Francis and Ziddy Matthews in Denver, CO on May 9, 1945. He graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School, Cathedral High School and Indiana University. Robert served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, where he was past president of the Men?s Club, Athletic Director and coached girls and boys basketball and football teams. He was also a member of the American Legion Kennington Post #34 and past president of Fall Creek Little League. Robert was the recipient of the CYO St. John Bosco and Busald Awards. He was the Sales Manager at Beaver Materials Concrete. Robert is survived by wife, Jennifer (Jenny); daughters, Christy (Bryan) Bailey, Tracy (Jonathan) Aszkler and Amanda (Darnell) Archey; seven grandchildren, Breyden, Logan and Kelsey Bailey, Jonathan and Abigail Aszkler, Allie and Ava Archey; and mother, Ziddy Matthews.
