Mary Susan Uhler -- Indianapolis, IN / La Crosse, WI -- Mary Susan Uhler of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on January 24, 2016 in Indianapolis, Indiana from complications of Lupus. She was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on March 30, 1949, to Donald F. and Ruth I. (Zanter) Uhler. She attended St. Wenceslaus Elementary and Aquinas High Schools. She attended UW-La Crosse where she graduated with honors with a BA in Secondary Education in 1971. She went on to attend Law School at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, earning her JD in 1975. She was a member of the bar in both Indiana and Wisconsin. Mary worked for the Indiana Legislative Services Agency before serving as legal counsel for the Indiana Department of Education in Indianapolis. She was employed as legal counsel for RQAW, an engineering firm in Indianapolis before becoming government affairs director for Waste Management of Indiana. She also served as Environmental Policy Manager to Indianapolis Mayor Stephen Goldsmith. She married C. Steven Gohmann on January 28, 1978 in Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her by her father, Donald F. Uhler in 1957 and her step-father, Donald G. Kabat in 2007. The family requests contributions to be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, Indiana Chapter in the name of Mary S. Uhler, 9302 North Meridian Street, Suite 203, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46260. A memorial service and celebration of Mary's life will be held at The Overlook Clubhouse, 1001 W. 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46260, on Saturday February 6th from 3PM until 5PM.
