She was one of the founders of the Round Lake Library, a muti-term elder of the Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for 20 years and spent 16 years organizing groups and helping to raise funds for the PTA, Band Boosters and other school related organizations. She was an avid gardener, antiques collector, cook, a devoted wife to her husband, and loving mother to her daughters all of her life. "Life was a festival of the seasons on our hilltop in northern Illinois and my mother knew better than anyone how to live within each day and make it a masterpiece. Her presentation was flawless and her joy in sharing was evident in everything she did", her youngest daughter, Sally, once wrote as a Mother's Day tribute. "Mom instilled love of beauty....not to mention that she taught us all how to have a happy home. That was the most important gift which we learned by her example," said her daughter, Nancy, in a letter to her mother. "Her children will arise and call her blessed" (Proverbs 31:28), daughter Linda would write in notes. "Nothing could be more true in our relationship with our mother," she concludes. Services will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church with calling from 12:30-2:30 at the church. Burial will follow the ceremony at Oaklawn Memorial Garden next to her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Orchard Park Presbyterian Church.
