James Nick Catsban 85, of Carmel, IN, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013. He was born on August 14, 1927 in Birmingham, Alabama to parents James Nick Sr and Nellie Mae (Bowden) Catsban. Nick was the oldest of three brothers, Richard, preceded him in death, and Johnny, survives. Nick was a U.S. Navy veteran who proudly served his country during World War II in 1945-1946 in the South China Sea. After his military service he returned home to marry his childhood sweetheart Mary Emily Scott who survives. Nick and Mary were married for 65 years. This marriage produced three children who survive, James Michael (Pam) Catsban of Portage, IN, Nikki O'Brien of Carmel, IN, Judy (Ron) Oleniuk of Fonthill, Ontario, Canada. He is also survived by grandchildren Randall (Julia) Addison, Ryan (Alicia) Addison, Nicole (Greg) Bechkos, Katie O'Brien, and great grandchildren Grace Clairmont, Mia and Colin Addison. Nick had many hobbies and loved woodworking and painting. His great passion late in life was genealogy and holding annual family reunions.
