James F Moran Obituary James F. Moran peacefully passed away on April 21st at age of 91 surrounded by his four children. A native Hoosier, Jim was the youngest of five children born to John J and Margaret Moran. He was a loving husband married to JoAnn Moran for nearly 62 years until she preceded him in death. Jim was a doting father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jim is survived by his four children: John Moran (Gwen), Anna (John Pfeifer), Patrick Moran (Alice) and Maureen (Michael Sullivan); his nine grandchildren: Victoria Kelly (Patrick), Michael Moran, Courtney Moran, Olivia Pfeifer, Joshua, James and Sam Moran, Katie and Andrew Sullivan; and two great grandchildren - Paitson and Finn Kelly. Jim attended Holy Cross Grammar School, Cathedral High School and Butler University. In August 1942, Jim enlisted in United States Marine Corp and served until December 1945. During his time in the Marines, Jim saw action in the Pacific Theater with the Fourth Marine Division, participated in four assault landings in 13 months and was wounded in the battle for Iwo Jima where he received the Purple Heart and several citations and commendations. ame of football, Jim played the sport for 12 years spanning grade school, high school, college as well as playing for a semi-professional team. He also coached C.Y.O football for ten years. He was an ardent fan of golf and successfully achieved two hole in ones on the golf course. Jim owned and operated the James F. Moran Contracting Company and the Moran Realty/Rental Company for over 40 years until he retired with his wife, JoAnn to Ft Myers, FL in 1985. He was a charter member of Sabal Springs Golf and Racquet Club, Third & Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Fourth Marine Division Association. Friends and family will gather on April 25th at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel from 4 to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on April 26th at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Indianapolis followed by interment at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
