Charlotte Deiling Hilmer

Charlotte Deiling Hilmer died on February 17, 2014, after a courageous journey of multiple health problems for two years. She was born October 22,1925, in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Her husband of 59 years, Albert Hilmer, preceded her in death. After living in Iowa for 81 years, she moved to Indianapolis to be close to family. Charlotte is survived by her son John Hilmer, daughter-in-law Linda Hilmer, daughter Dianne Hilmer Foglesong, and son-in-law Mark Foglesong, all of Indianapolis. She was the proud grandmother of Benjamin Hilmer, John Foglesong, and Molly Foglesong Sturman. Charlotte's great-grandchildren, Jack Sturman, Elizabeth Sturman, Charlotte Sturman, and Eleanor Foglesong, were a source of joy in her elder years. Charlotte attended Culver Stockton College and the University of Iowa. She played the church organ from age 14 to 81 years, and wore out a piano giving lessons. An avid reader and traveler, she was also a member of PEO, the International Order of Kingsdaughters & Sons, Indianapolis NORC-Naturally Occurring Retirement Community, the Keokuk American Legion Auxillary, and the Keokuk,Iowa, United Presbyterian Church. in Indianapolis. Memorial services will be held February 19, 2014, 4:45pm at the Marquette Manor Chapel, 8140 Township Line Rd, Indianapolis. Visitation and tea will be at 3:00pm in the Foundation Room prior to the service. Please use the Marquette main entrance. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Keokuk, Iowa.
