Robert Borton

Robert Gene Borton, age 92, Indianapolis, passed away May 11th. He was born in Richmond, IN. to the late William J. and Hazel Borton. Upon graduation from Richmond High School in 1942, he joined the US Army and while serving in WWII was reported as MIA in the French countryside in 1944. Bob was a proud member of the group "Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge" and recipient of three Bronze Stars. After his service, he graduated from Purdue University in 1946 with a BSME degree. He was employed by Link Belt Co./FMC Corp. for 29 years in sales and sales management. He also was employed by American Koyo Corp. and PTC Inc. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis Mary (Phelps) and his children, Rebecca Ann "Becky" (William) Erdel of Indianapolis and Janis Elaine Borton of Denver, CO, his two grandsons, Major William Bradley (Rachel) Erdel of Emerald Isle, NC and Dr. Blake Lawrence (Kate) Erdel of Indianapolis, IN and his four great-grandchildren, Chloe, Audrey, Evan, and Archie.
