Sandra Jean Pahl, 74, Green Bay, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 7:30 am at home with her husband in attendance, after a long 24 year fight with a rare debilitating illness (Paraneoplastic Syndrome) secondary to breast cancer. She had been completely bed-ridden for the past five years. She is finally at rest. Sandra was born on March 28, 1942 to the late Charles A. and June (Bodin) Hillman in Hinckley, IL. As a child, she early on shared great promise as a professional level flutist. At the age of 12, for example, at the esteemed Interlochen music camp, she was chosen to be the solo piccolo player performing the difficult interlude of "The Stars and Stripes Forever" and it was flawless. Beginning in eighth grade she made bi-weekly trips to Chicago to study privately with the then principle flutist for the renowned Chicago Symphony. hildren, Leslie Nicole and Marc Thomas. During their 52 years of marriage, Sandra had a legendary history of producing outstanding flute players. This was an individual asset to her band director husband whose flute section was almost unapproachable. She and her husband, Jim, taught for a number of years at UWGB as ad hoc instructors, were members of the Green Bay Symphony, she as principle flute, and she was the elementary music coordinator for the Green Bay Schools until her disability in 1992. Sandra was a fantastic cook, grade A seamstress, knitter, and crafter. She loved to camp, travel, fish and fly with her pilot husband. She was respected and admired by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, James; children, Leslie Kreutz and Marc (Joleen) Pahl and their children, Cooper and Aryanna Pahl; brother, Charles B. (Sandra) Hillman; as well as many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave., from 11 am to the time of funeral service at 1 pm. Rev. Norman Stephensen will be officiating. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com. The family wishes to thank the tireless loyalty and devotion of her care-giver of the last nine years, Shellie, and the wonderful care and compassion provided by Southern Care Hospice, especially Chris, Karlee, Sarah, Laura, Sage, Amanda and others, primary aide, Kristie and many others along the Journey.
