Joseph Clinton Pickle, 92, of New London, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Specialty Care in New London.
Mr. Pickle was born at home on the family farm west of Lowell, March 29, 1924 to Lee and Laura Veronica Thornburg Pickle. On August 8, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri he married Juanita Rae Beams. She died July 27, 1988. He attended Bethany School and was of the Christian faith.
Mr. Pickle was a lifelong carpenter, working for Steve Westerbeck for 27 years, and working on his own until retirement. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing at area nursing homes. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and running foxes with his dogs.
He is survived by a son, Steven (Dalene) Pickle of New London; and daughter, Jody (Denny) Gholson of New London; three granddaughters, and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence Martin and Jean Tebbs, both of New London, Marjorie Foster, Karen Putnam, and Mary Gohr , all of Burlington, and Gwendolyn Lear of Florida; and one brother, Jim Pickle of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, sisters, Dorothy Blint, Hazel Blint and Velma Weigert; and brother, Jack.
