her and brothers. Dad also worked at Crawford Lumber, Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance, Graystone Dairy, and then the job he was so proud of, working as the Petroleum Specialist for Farm Service Company for 20 years. After retirement, he drove bus for the Glenwood School District until his health restricted him from doing so. Gordon and Pat were blessed with three children, Suzanne, Bruce, and Jodi. Dad and mom moved from the farm to live in Mineola, Iowa in 1965. They moved in 2000 to live in Glenwood, Iowa. As a young man, Gordon was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola where he was a lifelong member. He was very proud to have served on the church council and ushered at church throughout the years. He never missed and loved ushering at the Christmas Eve services with his friends, Calvin Deitchler and Duane Sell. Gordon was a member of the Mineola Legion Post 705 and served in several capacities, including Post Commander. He and mom were a part of the original Mineola Pitch Card Club. They loved dancing and attended many dances held at the Palisade Ballroom, Sokol Hall, Peony Park and in Minden, Iowa. It was not unusual to walk into their home and hear the radio or record player on, playing polkas and waltzes. Dad's favorite was "In the Mood" and if you were standing near him, he would take a hold of you and do a fun little dance right in the kitchen! His gardening was well known, raising so many beautiful tomatoes each year, with enough to share with family, friends, and do a little canning. The biggest love of Dad's life was Mom. He was so lonesome when she moved to the care center and when she passed away last December, he was heartbroken. I am sure they are dancing together right now! In addition to his beloved wife, dad was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Walter and Duane. Survivors include his children, Suzanne (Bill) Burgoin, Bruce (Angela) Schoening, and Jodi (Art) Parziale; grandchildren, Kelli Berke, Ami (Kyle) Leath, Brent (Susan) Burgoin, Lance (Courtney) Vestal, Corey Vestal, Dylan, Isabella and Lucas Schoening, Matt Parziale and Gina Bellamy; great grandchildren, Abigayle, Ryan, Benjamin, Sarra, Grace, Colton, Brody, Gavin, Anna, Sydney, and Penelope; sister-in-law Irene Schoening; nieces, nephews; and many friends.
